I’m from the west, where aside from buses, there is little in the way of public transportation. From all my friends in the east I heard nightmarish tales of the public rail system. But all of my experiences were great. Ordinary people were very helpful and polite. As was the various staff. I always found my way right to where I needed to be without a missed stop. I guess I’m still wide eyed at the thought of traveling with strangers by train. Oh, but don’t get me started about airports.
“Willoughby? Maybe it’s wishful thinking nestled in a hidden part of a man’s mind, or maybe it’s the last stop in the vast design of things, or perhaps, for a man like Mr. Gart Williams, who climbed on a world that went by too fast, it’s a place around the bend where he could jump off. Willoughby? Whatever it is, it comes with sunlight and serenity, and is a part of the Twilight Zone.”
very disappointed Jerry. I loved the personal story lines. This subway episode was very “not like you at all”. May be it is just me not getting the whole story thing, but i still love the jerry i came to know and relate too.
JERRY I ENJOYED YOUR SHORT FILMS AND LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR NEW WORK. SO WHAT I SAY I HOPE YOU TAKE WITH A SPOON OF SUGAR. I DIDN’T CARE FOR THIS EPISODE NOT THAT HATED IT BUT IT LACKED THE FLARE THAT IM A CUSTOM TO VIEWING FROM YOU, THE EFFECTS AND ANIMATION WERE GREAT, THE STORYBOARD, ON HTE OTHER HAND WAS WEAK AND THATS WHAT I ENOYS SEEING FROM YOU, MAYBE I MISSED THE PIONT OF THE MINISODE BUT I WANT TO BE HONEST. YOUR FAN IN CALIFORNIA JUSTIN
Great depiction of the different characters. Music fits wonderfully as well. I’m the chick trying not to touch too much or have anybody “too close” because of germs and stuff. Thanks for seeing what I see…that a lot of people in this world are just nasty.
[…] Our new episode, “B Train Blues,” is brought to you without the benefit of any writing or narration. In honor of the recent Writer’s Guild Strike, I decided to sit this one out. […]
I wanna tell ya, after a day of working in this town without pity, seeing ‘B Train Blues’ cracked me up. Many a trip on the subway has turned out that way for me too. Thanks guys and may you have a Happy Holiday Season!
Beautiful……….it captures the annoying nuisances perfectly but forgoes portraying the more threatening and potentially hazardous aspects of a ride on public transportation. Also, the scenery outside the car doors looked way too cheerful. A dark, foreboding subway station full of potential robbers, terrorists, or worse, (folks definitely not on their way to or from the office) would have been more appropriate. I realize that you are bound to some extent by political correctness (a curse, if ever there was one) but it might be fun to at least test the limits and see what happens. Anyway, good work. I’ll look forward to the next episode. Oh, guess I should say that yes, I do ride the subway.
This was so cool and clever. As a long time rider of the MBTA I can relate to every one of your characters. Just to let you know, I have your poster (framed now) up in our study. I graduate with my MBA in 5 months and at this point, I can’t wait. Thanks for your words of encouragement and keep up the great work!!!

Jerry, I have never commented on your work before, youtube or these awesome comments that congratulate how awesome you really are instead of saying I want my xx.xx minutes back. In my opinion and im sure thousands of others this is your best piece yet. Your animation of the train and when it shows the outside of it is magnificent. I love it when the camera goes down the hall way and you see how narrow the trian is but it doesn’t matter cause the people have the thiness of the paper and its easy to focus on each one when they make there sound cause they lean out. This is truely spectacular Jerry, also you David Grimes. I almost feel special to hear and watch this video. If it were up to me, this would get an oscar or something along those lines. Hope to see more original storys/episodes along with stuff like B Train Blues.

Very ambitious and creative work. It really should garner Oscar consideration for short animated film. What’s with the elephant outside the subway car at the end?
Hi from Jerusalem, Israel! The music, the animation, the sound: all great. I also love the less time between episodes! For my taste, though, I prefer the stories over this. But it’s all great stuff. Keep up the great work!

Oh, sweet. For those of us who use public transportation, this rings sooooo true. God bless iPod. (Is that a portable 8-track Jerry’s pluggin’ into??)

VERY funny, and a nice change from the usual format (although I love those too).
The animation is very detailed and complex and I really like the outside shot of the train going by towards the end.
Extremely enjoyable.

that’s exactly how I see a ride on a tram in my hometown (Antwerp). Great to see how you capture “reality” so well !!

Thanks again.

This is just like a ride on Boston’s Orange Line at rush hour (“Next Stop Willoughby” isn’t half the Twilight Zone adventure that is).
Nicely produced, gents.

Jerry What can I say…
That was a surreal masterpiece some of your best work yet.
Hope you Holiday Season is Top Notch
